Helm
Steer a smooth arc round the windward
mark. Control the release of the main so as to keep the
boat over to windward. This accelerates the boat and helps
with the turn.
Letting the sails out and the acceleration
will try to force the bow down and make steering difficult.
To counter this step back in the boat to keep the bow up
and the boat planing.
If it’s wavy or windy think about
getting your back foot in the foot strap to help you keep
your balance.
Crew
Release the jib as the boat starts to
bear away.
Move back along the rack to keep the bow up.
Grab the trapeze handle with your
front hand and lift your self off the trapeze ring. You
are now ready to come into the boat as the power comes off
as the boat goes onto a broad reach.
