Hoisting in light airs is
very similar to hoisting in twin wiring conditions.
The main difference for the crew is having
to come back from the bow to hoist the kite and then get
back into the bow after the hoist. This needs to be completed
smoothly and quickly without shaking the boat.
It is rarely worth hoisting the kite as
a helm since this takes longer and it is difficult to steer
and balance.
The main aim for the helm is to
keep the weight forward as the crew comes back to hoist.
They then have to settle down into position after the hoist
and make sure the kicker and main are well eased.
