If
you are trying to learn the techniques from scratch then
slow the video down. Break the move right down into its
component parts. Then practice the move until your hand
movements, feet movements and timings are correct.
Once you can perform the basic movements now try to improve
the timings and speed them up. Try to aim for consistency.
Finally try pulling off the same moves
in races against other boats in tight situations. This
will be the test. Is the timing still good? Can you avoid
the capsize?
For sailors with
a few years experience in the 29er then the video will
give you chance to compare with your own technique. This
may give you some ideas of how you can improve or modify
what you do.
And don’t forget you can always come back to videos
after you have practiced on the water. Get some video
of yourself performing the skill and compare it to the
experts.
